Joseph Swensen

As main conductor in this year’s Carl Nielsen Master Class we have succeeded in booking the resident American conductor and violinist Joseph Swensen.

As of next season, Joseph Swensen has announced that he will return to the violin, once again performing concerts with orchestra. He will combine this with his conducting career. Before launching his conducting career, Swensen enjoyed a highly successful career as a violin soloist throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, and was an exclusive recording artist with BMG Classics.

Joseph Swensen is the founder and director of a new international arts institution headquartered in Townshend, Vermont, USA,  called Unity Hills Arts Centers International. U-HAC International is a completely new type of arts organization devoted to providing the arts to underserved and economically depressed rural communities worldwide.
